The Story

Hey! Nice to meet you

My name is Liesbeth, the one and only Salty Traveller. Obviously I love to travel otherwise I wouldn’t have started a travel blog.

In 2022, after having worked as an account manager for 17 years, I decided to exchange my permanent job for a more flexible existence. As a web designer and content creator I am no longer stuck to one place, but as a so-called ‘digital nomad’ I can work everywhere, as long as there is a good WiFi connection.

Besides hard working, creating and traveling, I am in love with Robert Jan and the sea. Most of all I like discovering new places together with him. And no, it doesn’t have to be a far away, the Netherlands and Europe also have beautiful places and spots to discover.

We are always searching for the best conditions on the water

I love the endless view and the peace that the sea gives me, I get a lot of inspiration for my design and content projects from this environment.

We live in Amstelveen, a quiet city next to Amsterdam. A perfect base between the city and the beach. Our hometown in terms of beach is Zandvoort, a place where we can enjoy the beautiful nature, wind and sea all year round. When possible, you will find us here on the water, on a sup, kitesurfing or wing foiling.

Meet my other love, Chuck the camper

I have to introduce you also to my other love, Chuck the camper.

In 2016 I bought a VW T3. He was technical 100% perfect, only the inside was not what I wanted, so I gave him a make over. I rebuild the inside into a fancy camper and on the outside the painting is done including some rust spots, and now he is my bad ass!

Robert Jan, 50 years, owner of a Real Estate Agency in Amsterdam. He knows a lot about our capital.

Robert is kitesurfing from the moment it exist. He was one of the first kitesurfers who went to Brazil for chasing the wind. He has seen already a lot of the world but Cape town is by far his most favourite place to go to. Cape Town offers it all!

Chuck the Camper

Chuck, 38 years! Chuck is after Robert my second love. We are together from 2016, after a fall with a racing bike, resulting in a concussion, I decided the bike should go and a camper to take it’s place.

Not really a logical exchange, but one I’ve never regretted.

We have had many nice trips together.
