Cape town has it all

Cape town Has it aLL

There is so much to do in and around Cape Town, from cultural city walks, having good food, chilling on the most beautiful beaches to hikes to the top of the table mountain and everything in between. To much to write about… but I will write about some highlights from my point of view.

Clifton a jetset heaven

It is my third time in Cape Town, my first time was already around 2008, I didn’t kitesurf at that moment. My best friend invited me to join her and we stayed at an incredible nice house somewhere in Clifton with a fantastic sea view.

Clifton is one of the riches parts of Cape Town, a haven for international jetsetters. And me, totally spoiled for the rest of my life…haha! Clifton is also popular because of the beaches, there are 4 beaches in Clifton. It is the ideal location for sunbathing, beach sports, people-watching and relaxing. Popular beach sports at Clifton include volleyball, frisbee and beach tennis.

On windy days, Clifton 2 and 3 are the best beaches to visit. Because of the cove formation around them, they remain largely unaffected by the wind.

Together with its immaculate white sands and glistening water, their bronzing bodies and designer sunglasses grace Clifton’s 4th beach with sufficient glamour and eco-savvy to deserve not only the ‘see and be seen’ status it has acquired but its blue flag status as well.

The waves along this beach, although relatively small, are better suited to more experienced surfers.

The local refreshment vendors you will meet on the beaches of Clifton are some of the most amusing characters imaginable. Some sales pitches you are likely to hear include: “How about a lolly to make you jolly?” “I’ve got cool drinks to make your liver shiver and your knees freeze!”

Jetset or not, a visit to Clifton Beach or neighbouring Camps Bay is definitely worth it.

This trip was far from an active one. The most active thing we did was a dip in the pool and playing a good play of cards.

From a jetset lifestyle to an active lifestyle

The second time I travelled to Cape Town was in a different setting. No jet”setting” but together with my boyfriend and our kite gear. This time Cape Town promised to be an active and sportive trip.

Kitesurf trip to Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town is famous for the large amount of beaches where you can and may kitesurf. The most kitesurfers are based in and around Bloubergstrand. Not only because of kite beach but also because of the nice bars, restaurant and a large amount of surf shops.

We prefer to stay is Sunset Beach, a quiet and bit more luxury area in between Cape Town City and Bloubergstrand. A perfect location direct on the beach with an incredible view of the Table Mountain.

In the morning when there is light wind we love to start our day with a kite- or wingfoil session and in the afternoon when the wind start pumping we often organise a downwinder with some friends. The wind can be strong and the waves can be big but kitesurfing in Cape Town is really amazing.

Never a dull Moment in Cape Town

Beside kitesurfing there are so much other activities to do in Cape Town. For great waves in a bit warmer water you go to Muizenberg for a surf or sup session. Or make a hike to the top of the Tafelberg or the famous Loins Head. There are many tracks to choose, from easy to advanced.

A relative new sport but also great to do is Padel. Whether you have your own team to play or you want to mix with locals on the same level, with the mobile app Playtomic it is easy to book a court.

When you are in for a bit more adventure, discover Cape Town from a completely new perspective, from above! During a Tandem Paragliding flight you will get breathtaking views of Cape Town, the Table Mountain and the ocean.

This are just a couple of activities you can do, believe me there are many more to do!

So, never a dull moment in Cape Town!
